![]() ![]() The test result depends on several choices of the test operator, and variations in different laboratory equipment have been noted in the literature over the past few years. The laboratory results take the form of the grams of 'product size' material generated per revolution of the laboratory mill ( gpr). The work index equation for a ball mill test was generated by Fred Bond to empirically predict the operating work index of an industrial ball mill (8 ft dia by 8 ft effective grinding length) operating with 250% circulating load. It is measured in a small laboratory mill operated under tightly specified conditions - see more here: ![]() This is the metric that most people mean when they describe a "Bond work index". I'll try to explain what these five quantities are, where they are applicable, and how they are generated. All should be equivalent in an ideal universe, but of course they aren't.
